He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Roy and Elizabeth Katherine "Kit" Doughty Hickerson Jr.; his children, Mauree Hickerson, W. H., Bonnie Gay Doughty and Greenevillian; his brother Joseph Roy "Joe" Hickerson III; his nephew Joseph Roy "Joey" Hickerson IV; his uncles, Bill Doughty and Richard Doughty; and his aunt Nancy Doughty.
He is survived by: his son Dr. James W. "Will"; his daughter-in-law Meredith Hickerson Jr.; his grandchildren, Virginia Hickerson and Hayes Doughty Hickerson; his sibling's children, Richard Doughty Hickerson, John Lindsay Hickerson, Kelly Charles Phillips and Jan Charles; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Brent Hickerson, Joey Hickerson, Kinsley Hickerson and Ava Hickerson.
