She is survived by: her husband Felty Masengill; her daughters, Leann Holt (Freddy) and Lisa Boswell (Ralph); her grandchild Jessy Boswell; and her sister Sara Bruce Jones. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as other extended family.

“I am so very sorry for your loss. Jean was a very special lady to so many people & to me, she was an Angel on Earth. She took me "under her wing" in October of 1977. I was an 18 year old high school graduate, who had just been hired by the Greeneville City Schools as the secretary at GMS. With this being my 1st job, I was so shy & scared, but sweet Jean quickly made sure I felt confident and comfortable. It's hard telling how many lives Jean touched in a positive way. I'm glad mine was one.”
