Though Joan may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Guy Carpenter and Nell Carpenter; and her brother-in-law Bill Bitner. She is survived by: her sisters, Louise Bitner and Kathy (Jerry Dan Deyton); her siblings' children, Jody Melton (Jeff), Jamie Wendtland (Joe) and Tim Bitner (April); her great-niece Kirsten Carter (Dylan); and her great-nephews, Will Melton and Alec Wendtland.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home (1125 Tusculum Blvd, Greeneville, TN 37745). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Carpenters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church (1430 Carpenters Chapel Rd, Mosheim, TN 37818).
