He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Basil Cox and Gladys Collins Cox; his daughter Pajan Elizabeth Cox Wilhoit; his siblings, Geraldine Cox Miles and James Basil "Jimmy" Cox; and his parents-in-law, Leonard and Nancy Malone.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Malone Cox; his daughter Lisa Vienna Cox; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Shea Street of Greeneville and Max Lloyd Cox Street of Owensboro, KY; his son-in-law Victor Doak Wilhoit; his nieces, Patricia Miles Shope of Seymour and Elaine Miles Reed of Nashville; his nephew Bradford Miles of Knoxville; his sister-in-law Charlotte Dykes; his sister Pam; his brothers-in-law, Cary Carter and Jeff Malone; his friends, W. T. Daniels, Spencer Smith, Jim Armor, Gary Williams, Alex Watts, Zahn McCaslin, John Sheffey, Jason Weems, David Carter, Robert Smelcer and Eddie Harmon; and his granddaughter Shea.
