He was predeceased by: his parents, R. Ernest Carlyle and Libby Carlyle; his sisters, Gaynelle McCoy and Dorothy Sandford; and his wife Virginia Ottinger Carlyle.
He is survived by: his siblings, Bill Carlyle (Marcia), Bud Carlyle (Phyllis) and Sue Shockley; his children, Betty Crocker (Clifford) and Danny Carlyle (Diana); his granddaughters, Rosanna Walker, Rachel Haller (Brent) and Richelle Reaves (Dustin); his stepgrandchildren, Dennis Tompkins (Kim), Jessica Tompkins and Jeremy Crocker; his great grandchildren, Caroline Walker, Chelsey Walker, Braeden Haller, Lucas Haller, Cole Reaves, Cory Reaves, Isaiah Reaves, Brayden Tompkins, Colton Tompkins and Kevin Crocker; and his great great grandchildren, Brody, Bryson and Grayson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service (208 N College St, Greeneville, TN 37745). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Greenelawn Memory Gardens (4159 Asheville Hwy, Greeneville, TN 37743).
