She was predeceased by: her parents, Willis Pickering and Helen Pickering; her parents-in-law, Vance and Vesta Darnell; her siblings, Tommy Pickering, Shannon Pickering and Joy Freeman; and her siblings-in-law, Edward (Eb), Rex Darnell, Janie Massie, Donnie Livingston and JC Freeman.

She is survived by: her husband Melvin Darnell; her sons, Tim (Lyn Darnell), John (Myra Darnell) and Steve (Janice Darnell); her grandchildren, Kelsey, Josh Gibson, Megan, Patrick Duncan, Devyn, Kelsi Darnell, Caitlyn Darnell, Cheyenne Darnell, Ethan and Olivia Darnell; her great grandchildren, Mason Reynolds, Walker Duncan, Cassandra Darnell (Cassie) and Collin Darnell; her siblings-in-law, Elizabeth, Johnny Reaves, Karen Darnell, Dearl, Pearl Darnell, Floyd, Jan Darnell, Wayne Darnell, Charlotte Livingston and Lynn Massey; and her close friend Betty Davis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the funeral home in memory of Jean.
