He was predeceased by: his wife Alma Rutherford (Grubb); his parents, Ernest Rutherford and Roxie Rutherford (DeMarcus); and his brothers, Ernie, Jake and Floyd Rutherford.

He is survived by: his daughter Sheila Holbert (Curt); his granddaughters, Melanie Dorminey (Wes) and Heather Densky (Jaron); his great grandchildren, Eliza and Esme Densky; his sister Sharon Drinnen (Butch); and his sisters-in-law, Joan, Margaret Rutherford, Wellington Manor and Monica Parks.
