He was predeceased by: his parents, Andy Mack and Lorene Nelson; his wife Shirley L. Nelson; his children, Johnie Leon Nelson Jr. and Lisa Flowers; and his siblings, Alene Thurmand, Aggie Pauline Ezekiel, Emily Louise Garrett, Wanda Joy Gilliland, Andrew Nelson, Clyde Nelson and David Lynn Nelson.
He is survived by: his children, Shirley Pounders of Ripley, TN, Sharon Stephens of Ripley, TN, Wanda Harber of Halls, TN and Bobby Nelson of Halls, TN; and his sister Barbara Holman of Ripley, TN.. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
