He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Robert Glen and Lois Hayes Burkhart. He is survived by: his wife Toni Cox Burkhart; his son Brad Burkhart (Alicia); his granddaughter Addison Burkhart; his brother Robert Glen "Bogie" Burkhart; his stepson Ronnie Cox (Kim); and his stepgrandson Nick Cox.
