He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Sykes and Thelma Sykes; and his siblings, Wanda Gibbons, Delana Guy, Debbie Sykes and Charles Sykes.

He is survived by: his wife Viola Sykes; his stepdaughter Robin Lieser (Anthony); and his siblings, Alan Sykes, Gary Sykes and Maetta York. He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
