It is with sadness that the passing of James L. Smith of Hendersonville, Tennessee is shared. James, born on August 11, 1937, passed away on September 5, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl "Pa" Smith and Margaret "Ma" Smith; his wife Donna Hand Smith; his sister Peggy Smith Hewgley; his stepdaughter-in-law Nealie Moree; and his brothers-in-law, James Warwick Armstrong, Jr. and Larry Carney Hewgley.
He is survived by: his sister Jackie Smith North (Al) of Maryville; his sister-in-law Peggy Hand Armstrong of Hendersonville, Tennessee.; his nieces and nephews, Beth Armstrong Greene (Travis) of Hendersonville, Kristie North (John) of Lexington, Tracey Hand Crider of Red Hill, Pennsylvania, Jimmy, Keith Hewgley (Debbie) of Cleveland, Steve Hewgley of Memphis, Lee North (Christine) of Alcoa and Ed Hand (Cindi) of London, England.; his grandchildren, Charlotte, George, Rebecca Hand and Shannon Rawls Wilkins; and his great grandchildren, Hailey, Gabriella and Ella Capri.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center (353 E Main St, Hendersonville, TN 37075).
