She was predeceased by : her parents, Clyde Lawrence Weatherspoon and Lona Elise Weatherspoon (Plunkett); and her husband James E. "Jim" Wallace. She is survived by : her children, James E. "Bubba" Wallace (Tammy) and Melinda Jo Pelham (Chuck); her grandson Joseph Edward "Joey" Wallace (Allison); her sister Ellen Hinson; and her great grandchild Bennett James Wallace.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center (353 E Main St, Hendersonville, TN 37075). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joan's name to the American Cancer Society.
