It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Wendell Clay Mitchell of Hermitage, Tennessee, who passed away on July 29, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Wendell departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Wendell. Though Wendell may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Mitchell and Ruth Mitchell (Smith); and his brother-in-law Dr. Myron John'Mike'Adams III. He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa Mitchell Foster (Ron) and Karen Mitchell Horton (Harwell); his grandchildren, Zoe Foster and Riggs Horton; and his siblings, Linda Adams and Kendell Mitchell (Marietta). He is also survived by other family members and friends.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Smyrna Cemetery (5012 Cove Creek Rd, Byrdstown, TN 38549). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Grace Church (1097 Murfreesboro Rd, Franklin, TN 37064).
