He was predeceased by: his parents, L. W. Gilliland Sr. (Spooks) and Martha Carolyn Brockett Gilliland; his brother David Michael Gilliland; and his brother-in-law W. Dan King. He is survived by: his wife Linda Jo King Gilliland; his children, Lew W. Gilliland III of Chattanooga, Wendy Lynn Gilliland Novak (Steve) of Eldersburg, Maryland and Timothy Fielding (Tim); his grandchildren, Madeline Serio Brunner (Paul), Nathan Serio, Oliver Novak of Maryland, Ava Gilliland and Charles Gilliland of Ohio; and his sisters, Patricia G. Smith of Chattanooga and Susan G. Goyer (Michael) of Brentwood, Tennessee..
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel (5401 TN-153, Hixson, TN 37343). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 15th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
