With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edith C. Merritt (Hixson, Tennessee), born in Henagar, Alabama, who passed away on October 13, 2020 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her former husband Joe E. Merritt; and her mother Laura Bell Cordell. She is survived by: her husband Jerome Emerson; her sons, Robert "Bob" Merritt of Nashville and Ronald Merritt (Stephanie) of Soddy Daisy; her grandchildren, Rob Merritt (Tonia) of Hendersonville, TN, Josh Merritt of Hixson and Stephanie Carnes of Chattanooga; her great grandchildren, Joe Merritt of Hendersonville, Travis Sands of Hendersonville, Brandon Carnes of Chattanooga and Nashaya Marie Lykes of Chattanooga; her stepdaughters, Denise Borland of Lilburn, GA and Kimberly Emerson of Soddy Daisy; and her close friend Bonnie Merritt of Portland, TN.. She is also survived by five step-grandchildren, six step great grandchildren.

All services will be private for the family only at this time due to the COVID-19.

But anyway how they brought us 'guys' together (we might have let Kathy Pope sneak in) to be such good friends and how much fun they had together. I guess Mrs. Merritt brought most of us through scouting. Anyway we all loved her and will not forget her.”
