He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Duncan; his parents, Marian Mills Duncan and Lester Van Buren Duncan Jr.; and his aunts, Sarah Lawson (Arthur) and Bird Johnson (Russell Sr.).

He is survived by: his children, Kendal Helms (Jim) and Andrew Duncan (Hailey); his grandchildren, Piper, Zac, Zoe, Taylor (Malachi) and Malakai; his great grandchild Koa; his cousins, Kitty Siegel and Rusty Johnson (Janet); and his close friend Wright. He is also survived by many brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.
