Mary Blancett Obituary
Mary Jane Blancett, 91, of Hixson, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022, with her daughter, Judy, niece, Donna, and the Chaplain of Memorial North Park Hospital by her side. Mary was born on September 26, 1930, and she lived in Hixson almost her entire life. She will always be remembered for her smile, sense of humor, and willingness to help Judy with the many projects in which she was invaluable. Being an Honorary Member and Violet Sister in Alpha Delta Kappa was an important part of her life. Mary retired from DuPont after 25 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Carl Blancett; a daughter, Mary Carleen Oldaker; her parents, Lester and Ruth Patton; four sisters, Dorothy Pearl Harris, Ester Mae Rogers, Jessie Ruth Thompson, Margaret Burrows; three brothers, L.T. Patton, Jr., George Patton, and Bobby Patton; nieces Clara Harris, Sherry Kilgore, Kim Patton; and one nephew, Steve Rogers.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Judy Espy (Jerry); her granddaughters whom she loved dearly, Kristie Oldaker (Dan), Amie Oldaker; son-in-law, Harold Oldaker; nieces, Linda Brown (Jimmy), Nancy Skates, Debbie Rogers, Vickie Beard; nephews, Larry Patton (Mila), Lebron Patton (Michelle), Eddie Harris, Marvin Thompson, Robbie Patton; special nieces, Donna Hayden (Vic), Kindra Blancett; special nephews, Bill Blancett, Kenny Blancett; a host of great nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
The family wishes to thank the Second Floor Nurses and techs, especially John Key and Amanda Taber for being such a source of support for Mary and Judy. Also, they would like to thank Alyssa of Hospice of Chattanooga for her help and encouragement. Leigh Anne Carbone, a therapist of Life Care of Hixson, is one of many people who helped Mary live an active life up until the end.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The service will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mickey Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Steve Burnside, Fred Huskey, Masin Mullis, Jarrett Myers, Chris Leath and Ricky Rector serving as pallbearers.
