He was predeceased by: his parents, James Virshel Hoback and Rosebud Gravitt Hoback; his grandparents, Levi, Minnie McJunkin Hoback, Henry and Hattie Sneed Gravitt; his brother Carlos; his sister-in-law Josie Ann Hoback; his sister Shelby Jean; and his brother-in-law J. B. Penney.

He is survived by: his wife Kathryne Moss Hoback; his daughter Karen Settles (Curtis); and his grandchildren, Haley Settles, Bryce and Brent Settles. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
