It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vahid Alavian (Hixson, Tennessee), who passed away on January 31, 2020, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Vahid Alavian to pay them a last tribute.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Bozurg Alavian and Azam Alavian; his wife Dr. Barbara Miller; his daughter Drs; and his brothers, Vedad and Vahdat. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews and spiritual siblings and children.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to support a local charity of your choice or the Tahirih Justice Center at Tahirih.org.

“Dear Dr. Miller/Mrs. Alavian, I am very sorry for your loss of Vahid. I was a roommate of Vahid during his undergraduate days and he got me involved in the UW Men’s Soccer Club. He was a wonderful human being and excellent soccer player. So smart, so gracious and kind. Great ambassador of the Baha’i faith. So tragic re his family and Iran. Out of the blue this morning, I thought “I wonder how Vahid is doing?” My condolences to your family. Best regards, Steve Sibley”
