He is survived by: his former wife Clara Dean Hughey; and his children, Debra Lynn Elkins of Brighton, Joseph Simmons Jr. of Brighton and Teresa Bentley of Eads. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, along with the husbands and wives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
