He was predeceased by: his parents, Dilver Smothers and Francis Newbill Smothers; and his brothers, Lynn Dale Smothers and Steve Smothers. He is survived by: his wife Diane Smothers; his children, Alicia Runions (Tim) of Hollow Rock, Tennessee and Terry Hollingsworth of Paris, Tennessee; his sisters, Hope Vinson (Dale) of McLemoresville, Kathy Norman (George) of Huntingdon and Kay Story (Ronnie) of McKenzie; and his cousin Kenny Smothers. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
