He was predeceased by: his parents, Loyd James Hires and Katherine Yancey Ward; his stepfather Robert Ward; and his sister Frieda Studstill. He is survived by: his brother Curtis Hires; his wife Margaret Hires (Margie); his children, Charlotte White (Phil), Liz Brooks (Mike), Debbie Ellington (Ben) and Robbe Hires; his grandchildren, Kevin Simmons, Jessica Easton, Dallas Brooks, Nick Ellington and Chelsey Ellington; his great grandchildren, Alyssa, Madison, Clinton, Gabe, Nolan and Addison; and his great great grandchild A. J..
