Alice Inize (Hudson) Smith Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alice Inize (Hudson) Smith. Born in Toone, Tennessee, on January 19, 1957, Alice passed away peacefully on November 24, 2023, at the age of 66.

Alice was married to the late James Nathaniel Smith ("Smitty") of Waynesboro, VA. Together, they raised two children - son Carlos Hudson and daughter Jannize Smith. Over the years, their family grew to include three granddaughters - Carmen, Peyton, and Paisley. Alice was the 4th living daughter of Calvin C. Hudson, Sr (deceased) and Hattie Hudson, both of Toone, TN. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she leaves to mourn numerous family and friends, including her mother Hattie Hudson, four siblings: Shirley Hays (Jerry), Gladys Poindexter (Warren, deceased), Lilion Thomas (Frederick), and Calvin Hudson (April). Alice's life will also be celebrated by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and one great great niece.

Alice accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at the Hillfield Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member until her transition to Christ. In her early career, she lived and worked in Washington, DC for over 10 years, where she met the love of her life - Smitty. Together, they returned to Toone to support her aging mother. After returning home, she worked with the United States Postal Service and the Hardeman County School District, where she retired from each, after a fruitful career.
Alice loved arts and crafts. You could always find her designing holiday decorations. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, where she would always make homemade gifts for her family and friends. Alice also took an active role in raising her grandchildren always taking them to church, teaching them about the goodness of God. She was loved and respected by all who knew her!
