He is survived by: his wife Barbara Whorton (Yates); his sons, Alvin "Terry" Whorton (Pamela Salley) and John Drannon Whorton (Wendy); his grandchildren, Aaron Whorton (Naseem), Taylor Lawson (Jeremy), Rachel Black (Patrick), Ashley Vaughn (Andrew) and Tyler Hope; his siblings, May Louise (Tisdale) Zumwalt (Jim), Norwood Tisdale (Hope) and Gary Tisdale; and his siblings-in-law, Jo Ann Richardson (Yates) and John Wesley Yates (Darcy). He is also survived by eight great grandchildren; as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
