He was predeceased by: his parents, P. J. Cupples and Mary L Jones Cupples; his son James Lynn Cupples; his grandchildren, Christi Cupples and Steven Powell; and his siblings, Henry Cupples, Tom Cupples, Butch Cupples, Jack Cupples, Mattie Cupples, Ophelia Davis, Nellie Macon and Bertie Cooper.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dot" Highfill Cupples of Jackson, TN; his children, Johnney Cupples Sr. (Sherry), Shirley Cupples Blankenship, Pam Conger (Sid), Jeffery Louis Cupples, Shaun Brown (Gari) and Ward Brown (Melinda); and his grandchildren, Dana Davidson, Tina Dove, Johnney Cupples, Jr., Jordan Cupples, Gary Blankenship, Jr., Lisa Pounds, James Coughlin, Will Hudson, Sarah Beth Huffstetler, Jansen Cupples, Avery Williamson, Andrew Lindsey, Ryan Lindsey, Christian Lindsey, Luke Brown, Taylor Brown Sykes and Harrison Brown. He is also survived by twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
