Rayette Ena Proctor Obituary
Rayette Ena Proctor, Jackson, TN, formally of York, PA, unexpectedly passed at the tender age of 53, on Saturday, August 3, 2024. She was born May 9, 1971 to the late Wanda (Holland) Proctor and the late Raymond "Skeets" Proctor Rayette was educated by York City School District. She graduated the class of 1989 from William Penn Senior High School. She continued her education at Johnson and Wales where she earned a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Before attending cooking school, you could find Rayette in the kitchen with her grandmother learning family recipes. She became the cook of the family. She loved cooking and everyone raved over her homemade carrot cake. She was a chef at several restaurants. It was never a dull moment with Rayette around. You could always find her in the middle of all the action with her side eye that would make you laugh. She loved her family and friends as well as all of her cats. Rayette knew Jesus and gave her life to Him many years ago where she was baptized at Love and Truth Church in Jackson, TN. She loved the Lord and knew He was her strength. Every year she helped run a program called "Room at the Inn" where homeless men could come get a meal and place to sleep overnight. She received an award for her work there. Rayette leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Madelyn Proctor, who turned 12 two days before her passing, two sisters, Dr. Evanna Proctor (Jackson, TN,) and Juanita Proctor (Enola, PA,) a brother-in-law, Gary Lockhart, two nephews, Vincent and Christian Lockhart, a niece Tyana George, special cousins, Beth Mincer, Rochelle and Kim Fleming, and Tamaica Preston all of York and very special friend, Susan Plunk of Jackson, TN. Along with her parents, Rayette, was preceded in death by her grandparents, William "Jack" Holland and Evanna Holland, Ruth Proctor, and a brother Spence Proctor. Services will be performed by Affordable Funerals, 118 Allen Avenue, Jackson, TN 38305. A memorial service will be held in York at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to her daughter's trust fund at Members 1 st Credit Union under Madelyn Proctor 8/1/2012, your favorite charity, or perform a random act of kindness for a stranger.
