He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Griffin and Juanita Griffin (Fite); and his siblings, Clyde Smith Jr. "Smitty" Griffin (Brenda), Charles "Chuck" Griffin (Linda) and Donna Jones (Charles).
He is survived by: his wife Debbie Griffin (Hill); his children, Heather Dixon (Mark), Meagan Jordan (Stephen) and Grant Griffin (Lauren); his grandchildren, Lily, Benjamin, Harrison, Harper, Elizabeth and Lucille; and his sister Danita Griffey (Michael). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt (in honor of his granddaughter Harper), Shriners Children's Hospital, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, all causes close to Carey's heart.
