He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Henry and Ellen Clyde Nettles (East). He is survived by: his wife Alice; his children, Claire Gilliam (David) of Clinton, Mississippi and Philip Nettles (Kenna) of Madison, Mississippi; his siblings, Jo Ellen Austin (Tony), Tom Nettles (Margaret) and Sylvia Dickson (Tom); and his grandchildren, Kate, Caleb, Eleanor, Maggie Gilliam, Abigail and Wesley Nettles.
