She was predeceased by: her father Delmer M. King. She is survived by: her mother Cordie Cooper King; and her sibling's children, Melissa (David), Valerie (Matthew), Denise (Quang), Douglas and David. She is also survived by her sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends.
One of Vergie's special gifts was serving others, whether running errands for those impacted by COVID, sharing what she had with those less fortunate, or bringing coffee to others to brighten their day.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Vergie's wishes as a lifelong educator, the family requests donations be directed to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library: Fentress County.
