He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Layne and Margie Green Layne; and his brother Freddie Layne. He is survived by: his wife Linda Sue Layne of Whitwell; his children, Judy Kilgore (Wayne) of Whitwell, Lynn Womack (Paddle) of Sequatchie, Hardy Cox of Whitwell, Jerry Cox (Missy) of Sequatchie and Jasmine Layne (Willie Gavin) of Whitwell; his siblings, Billy Layne, Juanita Thomas, Ethel Branum and Helen Layne; and his grandchildren, Cassy Kilgore, Sha Kilgore, Bubba Kilgore, Cole Womack, Alex Fuler, Kristen Smith, Courtney Cox, Payten Cox and Jerry Cox.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Jasper Memorial Funeral Home (150 Cornerstone Dr, Jasper, TN 37347). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
