He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Payne; his sons, Larry and James Michael Payne; his parents, Joseph Anderson Payne and Fannie Mai Payne; and his brother Joseph Anderson Payne III.
He is survived by: his daughter Paula Ladd; his grandchildren, Darla Koch (Richard), Travis Payne, Amanda Belcher and Chelsea Tucker (Greg); and his sister-in-law Polly Allen Payne. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home (3501 Old Clarksville Pike, Joelton, TN 37080). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
