She was predeceased by: her parents, Sylvester Mitchell and Ida Jones Mitchell; her husband Robert W. "Bob" Whaley; her brothers, Randall Mitchell and James Lee Mitchell; and her half-sister Laura Fuller.
She is survived by: her children, Bobby J. Cole (Teresa), Patricia J. Cole Shepherd of Cartersville, GA and Karla J. Cole Chasteen (Tyre) of Cartersville, GA; her sister Alice Faye Baker of Rock Mart, GA; and her stepson Raymond Larry Whaley of Lake Charles, LA. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
