He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeter Young and Bertie Flack-Young; his stepmother Elizabeth Young; his wife Naneva Young; his brothers, Howard and Charles Young; his children, Ricky Brown, Gregory Brown, Myra Brown and Jackie Brown; and his grandchildren, Defadrus Hale, Augustus "Trey" Alaman and Nikki Mills.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kathy Mills (Cecil), Sylvia Young of Arlington, TX and Lavonya Smith (Paul); his friend Bobbie Gillespie-Scott; and his grandchildren, Heather Gomez-Mills of Greeneville, Neosha Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Nicreshea Taylor of Johnson City, TN, Katie Tucker of Johnson City, TN, Clay Mills of Nashville, TN, Paul Smith Jr., Tyrone Young of Johnson City, TN, John Tucker of Johnson City, TN. and Greg Brown Jr.. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and all of his other extended family.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions a private service for immediate family will be held 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Birchette Mortuary and will be officiated by Elder Mark Redd.
