“I and saddened to learn of the passing of Cherie Phillips. She was one of my teachers in 6th grade at Jonesborough Middle School in 1982. She got me interested in books and academics. It was a tough time as my father was hospitalized with illness most of the year. She was a shoulder to lean on and showed a rebellious kid that authority figures can often be friends and helping hands. I know she will be missed and my deepest sympathies to her family and friends.”
