He was predeceased by: his father Judge Frank Watson Hawkins; his grandparents, Professor E. E. Hawkins, Margaret Johnson Hawkins, Judge D. A. Vines and Mabel Jackson Vines; his brother Frank R. Hawkins; his niece Trudi N. Tolliver; and his sister-in-law Elaine Carpenter Carter (E. H. "Ned" Carter) of Texas.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Carpenter Hawkins; his daughter Janet Hawkins Phillips (Rusty); his grandchildren, Wade Hawkins Phillips and Olivia Morgan Phillips of Kennesaw; his daughters, Georgia, Heather Hawkins (Mike Truffa) of Wilmington and Asheville of North Carolina; his sister Marilyn Hawkins Tolliver of Jonesborough; his nieces, Tori Tolliver of Jonesborough and Lori Tolliver Jones (David) of Blacksburg, Virginia; his nephew Frank Watson Hawkins II (Kelly); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Mathilda and Ellery of Knoxville; and his sister-in-law Janet Carpenter Carter (Locke Y.) of Kingsport.
