He was predeceased by: his parents, Ford Townsend and Fay Townsend. He is survived by: his sons, John Paul Townsend of Johnson City and Michael Townsend of Jonesborough; his grandson Hunter Townsend; his brothers, Steve (Patti) of Johnson City and Tom (Kathy) of Oliver Springs, TN; his close friend Rascal; his wife Mitzi Townsend; his stepdaughter Jill Coggins Hatley (Chad); and his stepgrandchildren, Zachery Coggins and Savannah Jenkins (Nathan). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; three nieces; two nephews; two great nieces; three great nephews.
