He was predeceased by: his parents, George Franklin and Johnsie Juanita Cox Whitaker; his wife Chloice Gladine Carr Whitaker; his son Rick Whitaker; and his siblings, Frank Whitaker, Joyce Elrod, Marie Gray, Helen Russell and Mary Greer.
He is survived by: his sons, Mike Whitaker (Tina), James Calloway, Jeff Whitaker (Renee), Tim Whitaker (Deanna) and Todd Whitaker; his daughter-in-law Melissa Whitaker; his sisters, Connie Taylor of Johnson City and Sherry Davis of Johnson City; and his grandchildren, Cindy Whitaker Umber, Ricky Whitaker, Daniel Whitaker, Caleb Whitaker, Heather Jordan (Juan), Alexis Whitaker, Summer Calloway, Jesse Calloway, Jessica Moore (Justin), Dalton Whitaker, Kenneth Poore, Tyler Whitaker (Krystal), Braylen Capps and Toddie Whitaker. He is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
