He was predeceased by: his father Dr. William Thomas Mathes, Sr.; and his son William Thomas Mathes, III. He is survived by: his wife Alyne Mathes; his daughters, Myra O'Dell (John) and Dr. Marcia Sentell (David); and his grandchildren, John O'Dell, Myra Alyne O'Dell, Aubrey Sentell and Mathes Sentell.
