He was predeceased by: his father George W. Barnette; his wife Barbara Lee Greene Barnette; his sisters, Nola Sams and Pansy Brown; and his sons, Jeffrey Wayne Barnette, Brian Scott Barnette and Gary Todd Barnette.
He is survived by: his sons, George Edward Barnette (Misty), Michael Lynn Barnette (Amy) and Justin Andrew Sobel; and his sisters, Laverne Barnette Gouge and Selma Barnette Vicars. He is also survived by four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
