He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Barnett and Betty Barnett of Johnson City, Tennessee.. He is survived by: his close friend Stacy; his significant other Stacy Broyles of Jonesborough; and his siblings, Sharon Smith (Bobby) of Elizabethton, Steve Barnett (Naomi) of Johnson City and Sam Barnett (Sharon) of Johnson City. He is also survived by aunt, uncles, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to honor Shannon by giving to the Washington County, Tennessee Animal Shelter, in his name.
