She was predeceased by: her parents, William Steele, Sr. and Pansy Leona Steele; her husband Robert Rust; her brothers, Vinson Steele, William Steele, Jr. and Doug Steele; and her sister-in-law Phyllis Steele.

She is survived by: her siblings, Peggy Hawthorne of Atlanta, Katye Ramey of Pounding Mill, Bonnie Niemi of Bristol, Buddy Steele (Joan) of Knoxville and Jim Steele (Judy) of Maryville; and her sisters-in-law, Linda Steele and Mary Steele of Cedar Bluff. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
