It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Edward West of Johnson City, Tennessee, born in Springfield, Ohio, who passed away on October 22, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis McKinley and Minerva Ruth McCardy West; and his granddaughter Kari West. He is survived by: his wife Jo Carolyn James West; and his children, Carolyn Coleman (Lynn), Jim West (Susan), Steve West (Fran) and Sue Miller (Terry). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. West to the Holston United Methodists Home for Children, 404 Holston Drive, Greeneville, TN 37743.

My entire life my Dad always spoke foundly of Doc. Well, tonight I just started thinking about him and decided to google him and came across the news that he passed just a few days ago. RIP Doc.”

“The USS Wilhoite Association is saddened to hear about the passing of our shipmate Doc. He served as corpsman on the ship in 1968-69. He & his wife Jo attended many of our reunions as well as hosting a couple in their home state of Tenn. We will miss Doc and his laughter.
