It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Lee Schwerdtfeger of Jonesborough, Tennessee, who passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Norman Schwerdtfeger and Mary Agnes O'Callahan Schwerdtfeger; his brother Dennis; and his brother-in-law Greg. He is survived by: his children, Wendi Brantner (Mark) and Mindi Woods (Kevin); his grandchildren, Zeth Flores (Kendra), Sean Flores (Mikayla), Alyssa Flores (Alex), Ashley Brantner, Brooke Brantner and Kaden Brantner; his great grandchild Evelyn Flores; and his siblings, Linda Collecod, Pat Schwerdtfeger (Jana), Laura Smuts (Gary) and Louise Gibson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Jonesborough Presbyterian Church or to St. Jude Children's Research hospital in honor of Brooke Brantner who bravely fought leukemia twice and continues to inspire us with her strength and resilience.
