He was predeceased by: his parents, John'Jack" Arnold and Betty Jayne Nelson (Chapman); his in-laws, Junior "Pat" and Edith Breeding; his grandparents, Dr. Caryl, Dorothy Nelson (Arnold), Clive and Esther Chapman (Rosinky); his aunts and uncles, Charles Richard Chapman, Dr. Tom Glasscock, Lois Glasscock and Maryann Chapman; his cousin Patty Clifton; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Breeding, Patsy Durham, Danny and Dennis Breeding.
He is survived by: his wife Mairlyn; his children, Ashton Nelson (Timothy Barker) of Johnson City, TN, Spencer Nelson (Anna) of Johnson City, TN, Kendal Nelson (L. Garrison) of Fredericksburg, VA, Barry Nelson (Kaley) of Acworth, GA, Jeff Nelson (Christine) of Mooresville, NC and Diane Cox (Greg) of Winston-Salem, NC.; his grandchildren, Dr. Will Cox (Becky), Ashley O'Han (Robbie), Andrew, Katy Cox, Britta, Jack Nelson, Kadence, Jaxon, Bodee Nelson, Aden, Levi Hicks, Lily and Chapman Nelson; his great grandchildren, Russell Cox and Tripp O'Han; his sister Jackie Nelson of Bayonet Point, FL; and his siblings-in-law, Janie Breeding, David of Livingston, TN and Doug Breeding of Livingston, TN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
