He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Thomas and Edith Magdeline Hovatter; his wife Judy Elaine Oakes Hovatter; his son R. Thomas Hovatter; his brother Jack; and his siblings-in-law, Betty May and Carl Bowman.
He is survived by: his daughter Lori M. Mowdy (Sankler Mowdy); his siblings, Debbie Bowman and Wayne Hovatter (Deb); his daughter-in-law Jennifer Hovatter; his friend Freda Gouge; his close friends, Frances Holton, David Shipley, Stan and Janet Bradley; his cousin Alma Campbell; and his pets, Molly Bea, Jimmy Lee and Jason. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Johnson City Baptist Temple (905 Milligan Hwy, Johnson City, TN 37601).
