He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Charles Rutherford and Texie Rowland Rutherford; his grandparents, Thomas Charles, Elizabeth Shepherd Rutherford, Charles and Harriet Hagan Rowland; his siblings, Mildred Jeanette Phillips, Lee, George Carroll, Thomas Charles Jr., Talbert, Paul Glenn and Lewis Jack Rutherford; and his niece Vicky Rutherford Thomason.
He is survived by: his daughter Rebecca Jean Rutherford; his granddaughter Nina Miniet; his sibling's children, Janet, Chuck, Michael, Talbert Linn Rutherford and Ronnie Phillips; and his sisters-in-law, Stella Rutherford and Betty Rutherford Presnell (Raymond).
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home (418 W College St, Jonesborough, TN 37659). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Monte Vista Burial Park (1900 E Oakland Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601).
