He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Carson Shaffer and Lizzie Jane Shaffer; his wife Doris Shaffer; his siblings, Billy Shaffer, Randy Shaffer and Brenda Maples; his brothers-in-law, Henry Maples and Emmett Sims; his son-in-law Russell Meade; and his great grandchild Jasper David Stambaugh.
He is survived by: his children, Tony Shaffer (Charlene), Tammy Smith (Leland), Tonya Trivett (Mark) and Bobbi Soper; his siblings, Francis Imogene Sims, Janette Sawyer (Fred), Rev. Dewey Shaffer (Brenda) and Terry Shaffer (Christine); his sister-in-law Sherry Shaffer; and his children, Dewey Shaffer, Ryan Shaffer, Danny Taylor, Judy Rutter and Indian Path Hospital. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Katie Beckett or Amedisys Hospice.
