It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gladys J. Smith of Kingsport, Tennessee, born in Surgoinsville, Tennessee, who passed away on September 17, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Cale Gilliam and Nellie Gilliam; her husband Dewey Smith; her siblings, Maxie Casteel, Ada Wilson, Lena Greer, Mamie Clifton, Esta Buttry, Sam Gilliam, Guy Gilliam, Ed Gilliam and John Gilliam; and her close friend Bobbie Smith.
She is survived by: her sons, Gregory Smith (Sharon) and Dennis Smith (Kim McMurray); her grandson Matthew Smith (Laura); her great grandchildren, Jake and Sawyer; and her sisters, Rachel Ryans and Ruby Mabe. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
