He is survived by: his wife Aleta Jeanette Long (McMurray); his children, Michael Long, Tamela Carter and Cindy S. Hawthorne (John II); his grandchildren, Alice Marie Clark (Andrew), Kiersten Elise Hawthorne, Chris Carter, Shane Long, Kevin Long (Brittany) and John III; and his great grandchildren, Lenora Hawthorne and Evangeline Hawthorne. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
