He was predeceased by: his father Gregory Matlock; his grandparents, Jane Shipley, Ruth Goad and Nile Goad; and his great-grandparents, Velma Shipley and Jess Shipley.

He is survived by: his son Joshua Shipley; his stepfather Scott Goad of Kingsport; his siblings, Mitchel Goad (Hayley) and Samantha Goad; his grandfather Thomas Shipley (Joanie); his nieces, Sophia Evans and Kehlani Fain; his nephew Lennox Goad; his pet Bentley; and his caregivers, Alexis, Warren, Jacob, Ryan, Brittany, Raven and Matthew. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.
